Cricket Bat Rehandle

Cricket bat handles can break from a number of factors:

• Really thin shoulders put stress on the handle when the ball doesn't come off the middle (the bat twists when contact is made with the ball).
• The handle being too thin (meaning it doesn't absorb shock well).
• Getting hit high on the bat (up by the stickers).
• Hitting the ground hard when playing a shot or when tapping your bat (this causes shockwaves to go up the bat).

However, cricket bat handles are easily replaceable. When fitting a new handle we:

• Cut out the old handle, and measure it's sizing.
• Cut a new handle to fit the splice and fit the handle in. Sometimes we may need to cut a wider splice to fit this.  
• Shape the handle to match your old handle as closely as possible.
• Rebind the handle.

Please take note of the following:

• There may be additional charges for the shoulder repairs, depending on how extensive the damage to your shoulders are.
• You will likely lose your stickers, as they need to be removed to cut the splice, and most stickers don't come off cleanly.
• Handle repairs are completed at the Mt Eden workshop. Bats brought into our other stores will be sent up to Mt Eden for the work to be completed. Rehandling a bat takes about 7 working days to complete (mostly down to the glue curing time).
